Familiar yet unique design

The New Renault 5 E-Tech Electric pays homage to its glorious past whilst maintaining modernity. It is built on the new AmpR small car platform, offering fantastic handling and new technology. The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric takes design elements from the original Renault 5, Supercinq and Renault 5 Turbo for a perfect retro-modern blend. The lighting signature is unique to the Renault range, featuring rectangular LED daytime running lights and playful headlamps. The original 5 had a vent on the bonnet to release heat from the engine. This feature has been adapted and modernised to the present day, replaced with a stylish charging indicator, resembling the 5 logo. 18-inch wheels are standard across the range, with unique alloy designs. There are five body colours available from launch, including Pop Yellow and Pop Green, which are inspired by two iconic shades that were present in the 1970s. From a distance, the paintwork looks solid but looking up close you’ll notice a subtle sparkle, a nod to the pop art aesthetic.

Interior Design

As you step inside, the retro-modern theme seamlessly continues, blending nostalgic elements with contemporary design. The cabin features a range of thoughtful details, including the padded passenger side dashboard, a nod to the original R5 that adds a touch of vintage flair. This homage to the past is complemented by modern touches, creating an inviting and unique atmosphere. The upholstery, crafted from eco-friendly recycled materials, not only showcases Renault's commitment to sustainability but also offers a variety of colour and styling options. Whether you prefer bold, vibrant hues or understated, classic tones, you can personalize the interior to reflect your personality. The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric offers a cutting-edge driving experience with its dual 10-inch screens, providing both functionality and style. These screens are strategically split between the driver instrument panel and the central multimedia display, delivering essential driving information and seamless access to entertainment and navigation features. Powered by Renault's advanced OpenR Link system, the infotainment experience is further enhanced with Google integration, available on the Techno and Iconic Five trim levels. This integration brings a suite of Google services, including voice-activated controls, real-time navigation, and access to your favorite apps, ensuring a connected and intuitive experience on every drive.

Inside the cabin, you'll find an additional 19 litres of versatile storage space, thoughtfully distributed throughout to accommodate your everyday needs. This storage can be customized to your liking with 3D printed accessories, allowing you to tailor the space to suit your lifestyle. Adding a touch of French flair, the R5 even features a quintessentially French baguette holder, ensuring that no detail is overlooked. This clever combination of storage solutions makes the R5 not only practical but also uniquely charming, setting it apart from other electric city cars on the market.

The Renault R5 E-Tech Electric is engineered to deliver a next-level driving experience that perfectly complements its striking design. Built on the advanced AmpR platform, this electric vehicle is designed for exceptional performance and handling. Its optimized front suspension, combined with a short gear ratio and an impressively tight turning circle of just 10.3 meters, ensures unmatched agility in urban environments and tight spaces. When it comes to range, the Renault R5 offers flexibility with two battery options. The 40kWh battery provides a range of up to 186 miles (WLTP), ideal for daily commutes and short trips. For those seeking longer journeys, the 52kWh battery extends the range to an impressive 248 miles (WLTP). Both battery options feature liquid cooling, which helps regulate temperature and extends the battery's lifespan, ensuring reliable performance over time. Charging the Renault R5 is both convenient and efficient. Thanks to Google Maps integration, you can optimize charging using pre-conditioning, ensuring that the battery is ready to charge at the optimal temperature. Additionally, the R5 offers two motor power ratings to suit different driving preferences: a 90kW (120hp) version for balanced performance, or a more powerful 110kW (150hp) motor for those who crave a bit more excitement behind the wheel.

Charging​

The Renault R5 E-Tech Electric is designed with cutting-edge charging capabilities, ensuring convenience and efficiency for all your driving needs. For those utilizing DC fast charging, the R5 offers tailored options based on the powertrain. The 110kW powertrain comes equipped with a 100kW DC socket, allowing the 52kWh battery to charge rapidly. Meanwhile, the 90kW powertrain features an 80kW DC socket, ideal for charging the 40kWh battery. In both configurations, you can charge the battery from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes, minimizing downtime and keeping you on the move. Setting new standards within the Renault lineup, the R5 is the first vehicle to offer bidirectional charging, providing unparalleled versatility. Its innovative Vehicle to Load (V2L) feature allows you to power conventional three-pin appliances directly from the car, making it the perfect companion for camping trips or outdoor activities where power access is limited. Additionally, the R5 supports Vehicle to Grid (V2G) functionality, enabling you to sell excess energy back to the grid during peak times, potentially offsetting energy costs and contributing to a more sustainable energy ecosystem.

The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is equipped with an impressive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), setting a new standard in the B-segment by offering features typically found in higher-end models. Designed to enhance driving, safety, and parking, these cutting-edge systems ensure that the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is not just a stylish and efficient vehicle but also one of the safest in its class. Among its standout features is the driver attention monitoring system, which actively helps to prevent accidents by detecting signs of driver fatigue or distraction. Additionally, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric introduces four groundbreaking safety ADAS features, borrowed from the Scenic E-Tech Electric, and now available in the B-segment for the first time. These features exceed the requirements set by the new General Safety Regulation II (GSR II), positioning the Renault 5 as a leader in automotive safety. Key ADAS features include automatic emergency braking in reverse, a critical function for preventing collisions when backing up in tight spaces. The vehicle also offers front sensors with emergency lane keeping and rear sensors with emergency lane keeping, providing enhanced protection by automatically correcting the vehicle's trajectory if it detects an unintended lane departure. Furthermore, the rear occupant safe passenger exit feature adds an extra layer of security by ensuring passengers exit the vehicle safely, particularly in busy or dangerous traffic conditions.
