The second model to be launched under Hyundai's IONIQ sub-brand, IONIQ 6, is described as an "Electrified Streamliner", using clever design to reduce aerodynamic drag and improve efficiency and range. Based on the same technology as the award-winning IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 benefits from 800-volt charging for ultra-fast recharging speeds, and an impressive WLTP range of up to 338 miles* on a single charge.
IONIQ 6's looks are not only striking, but serve a practical purpose too. The low nose, sloped profile, and rear spoilers result in a drag coefficient of just 0.21Cd meaning IONIQ 6 slices through the air resulting in increased efficiency and range as well as a reduction of wind noise for a truly serene experience. IONIQ 6 also features 700 Parametric Pixel lights creating a look unique to the IONIQ range of vehicles, making it instantly recognisable day or night.
Thanks to its dedicated EV platform and large wheelbase IONIQ 6 offers a spacious interior that you can really stretch out in. Many of the materials are made from sustainable sources and the ambience of the interior is lifted further by the inclusion of an ambient lighting system that can be set to 64 individual colours as well has the option of six dual-colour schemes. Practicality and comfort is at the forefront of the IONIQ 6’s interior. The E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) allows for a completely flat floor structure that maximises interior space, resulting in great head and leg room in all areas of the cocoon-like cabin. Fully reclining front seats easily transform the space into a relaxing lounge which is perfect for taking breaks on long journeys.
A bridge-type centre console enhances the storage spaces within the cabin, with cup holders and a space for your mobile devices above and a large tray for the rest of your belongings below. The door panels have a button-less approach, making the interior panels slimmer allowing for an increased capacity of the side door bins. IONIQ 6's touchscreen dashboard is made up of a 12-inch digital driver cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display. The system provides travel radius mapping relating to your current battery level, as well as automatically plans the best route to take and incorporates charging stations into your journey if you don't have the required range to reach your destination.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto take advantage of the wide displays making it easy to navigate menus and the Bose sound system uses eight speakers including a sub-woofer for a premium listening experience.
A long-range 77.4kWh battery powers the IONIQ 6, with the option of either rear (RWD) or all wheel drive (AWD). With the AWD setup, the car has a combined power output of 239kW with 605 Nm of torque. This allows a 0-62mph time of just 5.1 seconds.
IONIQ 6's E-GMP platform allows for support of both 400-V and 800-V charging with 800-V as standard, giving an impressive range of up to 338 miles* on a single charge. 400-V charging is accommodated without the need for additional adapters. As seen on the IONIQ 5, the innovative vehicle-to-load (V2L) function is offered on the IONIQ 6 that allows you to plug in and use any electrical device that has a 3-pin UK electrical outlet plug, creating endless ways to incorporate the car into everyday life. In addition to the exterior charging port, there is also a power outlet located underneath the seats in the back which is useful for charging laptops and other devices.
Class-leading driver assistance and safety systems are used throughout the IONIQ 6 for greater peace of mind. Using Hyundai SmartSense, IONIQ 6 is constantly aware of your surroundings and will be your extra pair of eyes when travelling.
Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) maintains a configurable distance and speed from the vehicle ahead of you when driving on motorways, no matter of road curvature. If a vehicle to the side of you is uncomfortably close, HDA 2 will adjust the vehicles path to avoid any danger. Whats more, when driving above a certain speed and operating the indicator, the car will automatically switch lanes safely in the intended direction.
Smart Cruise Control (SCC) assists in maintaining distance from the vehicle ahead at a speed set by you. When SCC is inactive, the system will learn your driving style. Disabling the function will stop learning your style and will drive automatically using the learned style.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) aids avoiding collisions with objects ahead of the vehicle whilst driving. If a vehicle ahead begins to slow, or a collision risk is detected such as a pedestrian, a warning is displayed. If the risk remains, FCA will assist in emergency braking.
Other semi-autonomous driving features include Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), adjusting vehicle speed to match the posted limit and high Beam Assist (HBA) avoids dazzling oncoming traffic. The Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) displays a camera view of your blind spots for safe lane changes, whilst Safe Exit Warning (SEW) provides extra safety for passengers in the backseats by providing a warning when a vehicle is approaching from the rear side while getting out of the vehicle.
Convenient Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2) makes it easy to park in tight parking spots without having to be inside the vehicle. This feature works in all types of parking scenarios, including parallel, perpendicular and diagonal parking.
The Surround View Monitor (SVM) shows your surroundings when parking to give you the best view possible. This is shown by using multiple cameras around the vehicle that is displayed on the infotainment screen for perfect visibility.
