The all-electric Dacia Spring has been named ‘Bargain of the Year’ at the TopGear.com Awards 2023 after it was singled out for its usability, fun drive and reasonable cost of ownership.
With many buyers contemplating if they can afford the switch to an electric vehicle, the fully electric Spring shows that such a change can be possible.
The Spring impressed the magazine and earnt the title with its unbeatable combination of value, enjoyable driving experience, and practicality, with these factors helping it to win against every other car on the market regardless of how they were powered.
Europe’s most affordable new electric car will be launched in the UK this year and will arrive on our shores with its attractive price in tow, ready to show thousands of drivers and families that the move to a quality EV can be done with confidence.
Regarding the Spring, TopGear.com magazine editor, Jack Rix, said:
“The Spring is a perfect fit for electric power, despite its shortish range – even going non-stop for 12 hours in a congested city won’t flatten its battery. It bowls cheerfully along, its ride is actually quite supple and controlled, its narrowness turns lanes and alleys into superhighways.”
Rix continues:
"It’s delightfully light and agile on town roads and the meagre power is about right because it matches the tyre grip. It’s about the ease of use, ultra-low cost of ownership and, ultimately, carefree fun.”
Due to the success of the Spring in other markets, Dacia has confirmed that the fully electric city car will arrive in the UK in 2024 as an All-New version that includes significant improvements in design and equipment.
