The Renault ZOE has taken the ‘Best Electric Car’ honours in the 2020 What Car? Used Car Awards, while the Renault Captur and Renault Megane R.S. 280 have received commendations in their respective categories. The annual ceremony rewards the best used car buys across 18 categories, all of them judged by the consumer title’s panel of used car experts and highly experienced road testers.
The Renault ZOE scooped ‘Best Electric Car’ award overall, making it the third time the innovative electric hatchback has been recognised by the What Car? Judges, following its 2018 ‘Best Electric Car under £20,000’ victory in 2018 and its 2017 ‘Best Green Car’ success. Representing great value for money and featuring a What Car? Real Range of 146 miles, the innovative all-electric hatchback makes as much sense as a used buy as it does new.
Speaking about the ZOE’s victory, Mark Pearson, What Car? Used Cars Editor, said: “We’re delighted to give the Renault ZOE our Used Electric Car of the Year Award this year. It’s a car that’s always impressed us for its practicality and ease of use and, with plenty of used examples around starting from some temptingly low prices, it truly brings zero-emissions motoring within reach of the majority of buyers. Later models have ramped up the real-world range, too, making the Zoe an even better everyday proposition.”
For the second year in a row, the Renault Captur was a finalist in the ‘Best Small SUV’ category. With its sliding rear seats, practical interior, low running costs and strong refinement, the Captur comfortably represents a great choice for families and individuals looking for a great blend of style and value.
Completing Renault’s trio of achievements in the What Car? Used Car Awards is the Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup, which was commended in the ‘Best Hot Hatch’ category. Featuring a powerful 280hp turbocharged 1.8-litre engine, sophisticated 4CONTROL four-wheel steering and stiffer and lowered Cup chassis upgrade with limited slip differential, the Megane R.S. 280 Cup is one of the latest additions to Renault’s rich history of hot hatchback models.
Adding to the appeal of a used Renault is the fact that all these models can be purchased through the Renault Approved Vehicles scheme. Run throughout Renault’s dealer network and online, this programme brings a number of significant customer benefits, including a 12-month warranty and breakdown assistance package, seven days driveaway insurance and a 30 day no quibble exchange guarantee.
