What Car? 2018 Awards - Best Electric Car accolade for The Nissan LEAF

What Car? 2018 Awards saw the Nissan LEAF taking home the ‘Best Electric Car’ accolade.

Steve Huntingford, editor of What Car? praised the electric vehicle by saying, “The electric car market has never been more competitive, yet the LEAF saw off all its rivals because it makes the most sense to most buyers. It combines excellent performance with generous standard equipment and low running costs. Even in winter weather, its real-world range is good.”

Nissan were also commended for the ‘Technology Award,’ which recognises innovative technology developments. The Nissan LEAF embodies Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility proportion as the centre piece of an electric ecosystem that includes energy storage, energy generation and infrastructure integration. The all-new LEAF is an improvement over the previous model with updates made to the styling, advanced technologies and drivetrain. The all-new LEAF offers a higher capacity drivetrain which delivers a significant increase in both range and power.

Alex Smith, Managing Director of Nissan GB commented; “when we launched the first Nissan LEAF in 2011, there was some scepticism as to whether the world was ready for a mass-market EV. Today, Nissan is the global leader in producing accessible, affordable, all-electric mobility with more than 300,000 electric vehicles sold worldwide.

The all-new Nissan LEAF is available to test today at Smiths Nissan, Peterborough.
