IONIQ 5 To Recieve Product Enhancements For 2023

Hyundai has enhanced the popular IONIQ 5 with the introduction of the 2023 model year. The updated version of the EV will be available with a 77.4kWh battery, along with range enhancements and new features.

The IONIQ 5 was first launched in February 2021 and is the first model based on Hyundai's dedicated BEV platform, Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The IONIQ 5 recently won the overall title at the UK Car of The Year Awards, as well as a category win for Best Family Car, adding to the multitude of awards and accolades recieved since launch. As well as the new 77.4kWh battery, the updated IONIQ 5 will have the option of video-based digital interior and exterior mirrors. The Digital Centre Mirror (DCM) is mounted on the rear spoiler, giving an optimal position for an unobstructed view of the surroundings.

SE Connect

SE Connect 58 kWh now starts at £39,400 following a range realignment. With a range of up to 238 miles and an efficiency of 16.7 kWh/100km (WLTP), the SE Connect offers a high level of standard features including front LED lamps with a multi-function reflector, 12.3" audio with navigation and Bluetooth*, wireless device charging and adaptive cruise control. Intelligent frequency dampers improve vehicle dynamics by improving front and rear suspension response and increasing both handling and ride comfort.

Premium

From £41,900 on the road, Premium IONIQ 5 models gain new standard equipment including the Vehicle to Load (V2L) system, previously an option, upgraded soft touch interior with 64-color ambient lighting and a sliding center console. In addition, the Premium specification level will feature the industry's first digital based solution, featuring a standard full-view mirror that uses a camera mounted inside the spoiler to project a real-time view to the interior mirror, enhancing the driver's rear view in any condition. Optional heat pumps are available on the Premium and will enhance the battery's efficiency by heating the cabin instead of using the high voltage battery to power the heating system during inclement weather. The premium models come with both the 58 kWh and the new 77.4 kWh batteries delivering an increased range of up to 315 miles (WLTP) and an increase of 11PS over the previous 72.6 kWh battery.

Ultimate

The Ultimate trim is now available from £48,400 and includes the previously optional blind view monitor and surround view monitor as standard equipment, along with 20" alloy wheels, privacy glass, heated and ventilated front seats, with heated rear seats, a BOSE premium sound system, and an augmented reality head up display. There is also a revised Tech Pack, which includes Remote Smart Park Assist (RSPA), Parking Collision Avoidance (PCA), Automatic flush door handles, and memory functions for both driver and passenger seats.

Namsan Edition

The Namsan Edition offers customers the choice of the highest level of equipment and powertrain specifications available on the IONIQ 5. Namsan Edition takes its name from Namsan Mountain, a vast mountain which boasts views across the skyline of South Korea's capital city and a sprawling national park covering over 3.3 million square meters, offering Seoulites a relaxing and calming getaway in one of the world's busiest cities. With its full-length vision roof, the IONIQ 5 Namsan Edition honors the Korean landmark, while the leather upholstery, relaxation seats, and spacious interior provide a relaxing environment for occupants. The Namsan Edition will also offer Digital Side Mirrors (DSM). This high-tech feature has been available for Korean-spec IONIQ 5 models already, and it will be available in a Hyundai Motor Group vehicle for the first time in Europe. Customers of the IONIQ 5 will benefit from the DSM, since it will reduce air resistance and provide a better rear view even during bad weather.

In the Namsan Edition starting at £52,900, Digital Side Mirrors replace traditional door mirrors with cameras that project their image onto OLED monitors for better visibility and enhanced safety. The Namsan Edition will also introduce a standard full length vision roof with integral sunshade to maximise the available cabin light. In addition to these additions to the top trim, Namsan Edition models also include both Heat Pump and Tech Pack as standard.
