Hyundai Motor UK has picked up four wins at this year’s What Car? Used Car Awards, building on its triple victory in the Awards last year. Picked out for special recognition were Hyundai’s revolutionary IONIQ Hybrid, named as the publication’s Best Used Green Car, and the i10 city car. As well as picking up the prize for ‘Best Used Green Car’ overall, the Hyundai IONIQ was named as ‘Best Used Green Car for Under £16,000’. Available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicle, IONIQ is one of the most versatile alternative-fuelled vehicles on the market. What Car? judges named the IONIQ Hybrid as their pick, thanks to fuel economy of 83mpg and a refined driving experience bolstered by an advanced dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Alex Robbins, Used Cars Editor at What Car?, said: “The most widely available IONIQ of all is the hybrid version, and this is a great car in its own right, with terrific real-world fuel economy, lots of standard equipment and some remarkably appealing used prices. Plus, of course, you get Hyundai's five-year warranty, and the IONIQ’s solid showing in our Reliability Survey means it should last the course, too. All of which made it an obvious choice for our Used Green Car of the Year award.”
Although the current Hyundai range has grown to include hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, ‘N’ performance cars and, of course, its range of electrified models, Hyundai made its name in the UK with city cars. And the i10 has continued to be recognised by What Car? in two ‘Best Used City Car’ categories, following its three victories at last year’s Awards, including the overall Best Used City Car gong.
The current Hyundai i10 was named as ‘Best Used City Car for Under £9,000, with its predecessor named as ‘Best Used City Car for Under £4,000’. The Hyundai i10 has been consistently lauded as one of the best city cars that you can buy, renowned for its spacious, refined cabin and excellent value for money. The i10’s luxurious equipment list includes steering mounted cruise control, a heated leather steering wheel and heated front seats, providing allowing buyers all the creature comforts and convenience of a much larger car.
Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai Motor UK President and CEO, said: “On behalf of the whole team at Hyundai Motor UK, it’s an absolute privilege to accept four more What Car? Used Car Awards wins, taking our total in the last two years to seven. We’ve worked extremely hard on value for money and reliability across all of our models so it’s fantastic to see two of our most diverse models recognised by What Car?. Our industry-leading 5 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty is fully transferable across owners, giving even our used car customers ultimate peace-of-mind, with roadside assistance, health checks and repairs included.”
