Hyundai Motor UK has picked up two wins at this year’s What Car? Used Car Awards, with i10 named as Best Used Value Car and IONIQ Hybrid named as the publication’s Best Used Hybrid Car.
As well as picking up an overall category award, i10 also captured a category win in the less than £6,000 price point. The i10 has always offered a desirable combination of class-leading levels of space wrapped up in a small car package. Now in its 3rd generation, i10 has secured a multitude of new and used car awards since it was launched in 2009 and has consistently proved to be a compelling proposition providing excellent value-for-money with excellent equipment levels and strong residual values.
Mark Pearson, Used Cars Editor at What Car? said: “The dinky i10 has always been one of our favourite city cars. It’s fun to drive, for starters, and we also love it for its space, comfort, practicality and high-quality feel. It’s economical and reliable too, and by buying one at the price and age we’ve picked here you’ll also benefit from a good portion of its five-year warranty. Its clever packaging, big-car refinement and excellent value are what really set it apart for us in this highly competitive class.”
IONIQ Hybrid also saw category success in the less than £15,000 price point. In a similar vein to the i10, the IONIQ range has picked up a number of awards since its launch, with experts praising its attractive overall package, value for money, technology and drivability. Available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicle, IONIQ is the most versatile alternative-fuelled vehicle on the market.
In What Car? Used Car winning specification, the IONIQ Hybrid boasts fuel economy of up to 68.2mpg, while the Electric version is capable of 174 miles of zero emissions motoring on a single charge.
Commenting further on the IONIQ win, Mark Pearson, Used Cars Editor at What Car? said: “The versatile IONIQ is a frequent winner in our What Car? awards and that’s not surprising: it’s a great hybrid car and, in particular, it’s terrific value as a used buy. It offers up impressive real-world fuel economy, a well-built interior, generous equipment levels and, on top of that, it’s good to drive, too. It’s also practical and reliable, and there are plenty of them around to buy. As a bonus, you should pick up the residue of its splendid five-year from new warranty.”
Ashley Andrew, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor UK, said: “i10 has always offered excellent value for money as a new or used car, so it’s no surprise that every generation of the model continues to receive praise from influential consumer titles such as What Car?. The IONIQ Hybrid is becoming a popular choice for used car buyers wanting to reduce their vehicle emissions whilst still owning a car that offers a high level of specification.
