Hyundai Motor has added another prize to its collection of critical acclaim, scooping a top accolade as the IONIQ Hybrid was named ‘Best Hybrid Car’ at the Carbuyer Best Cars Awards.
Judged through analysis of search engine data alongside critical evaluation by a panel of experts, the Carbuyer Awards tune in to what real car buyers are looking for. The judging panel afforded particular praise to the IONIQ’s range of in-car features and reasonable running costs. The hybrid IONIQ offers a total driving range of up to 700 miles, while CO2 emissions of 83g/km mean that it sits in the 22% BIK bracket for business users in 2019/20.
James Batchelor, Carbuyer editor-at-large commented: “A past winner, the Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid is now even better than ever, with updated looks and features, and a classy new infotainment system.
Most of all though, the IONIQ is affordable to drive and own, with no big changes in lifestyle required of owners.”
While the IONIQ Hybrid is an award winner, buyers of IONIQ can also choose between another two powertrains to best suit their lifestyle. The IONIQ Plug In Hybrid currently sits at the lowest 16% BIK rate thanks to CO2 emissions of just 26g/km, and in the new tax year it will be reduced to 10% thanks to both low CO2 and 39 mile electric range, which when combined with its 43 litre full-size petrol tank delivers total range to more than 660 miles.
IONIQ Electric provides a cleverly-packaged, responsive driving experience. It offers outstanding performance through a 38.3 lithium-ion polymer battery, with instantly-available maximum torque of 295Nm delivered by an 100 kW (136 PS) electric motor. It offers buyers a zero-emission range of 193 miles on a charge, and running costs of just three pence per mile.
Ashley Andrew, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor UK, said, “It’s a tremendous honour to win a Carbuyer award, they are among the most objective and buyer-relevant awards in the industry. This award really demonstrates how innovation and value go hand-in-hand at Hyundai. The IONIQ is one of the most impressive eco-cars on the market, and its diverse powertrain offering means that there is an IONIQ for everyone.”
The Carbuyer Best Cars Awards consider a car’s reliability, price, running costs and how easy it is to live with, in addition to how well it performs and handles. The award categories reflect the types of vehicles proven to be the most in-demand by readers and follow Carbuyer’s ‘plain English’ approach.
