The Grandland X is the newest and largest member of Vauxhall’s expanding SUV crossover family. Designed to offer a sporty yet rugged look, the Grandland X is sure to turn heads on whatever adventure you take it. Plus, if you’re heading off the beaten track, the Grandland X is the first model in Vauxhall’s range to feature the IntelliGrip traction control system to provide maximum grip on any surface.
Giving active families just what they are looking for, the Grandland X offers off-road appeal with SUV styling, a raised seating position giving everyone a great view, and room for up to five passengers and their luggage.
At the front you will find a bold grille, with the Vauxhall Griffin taking pride of place, flanked by swept-back headlights which feature ‘double-wing’ LED daytime running lights. The side of the car features sculpted wheel arches and protective body cladding, creating a stylish look that also helps to protect that car’s bodywork.
The sporty yet rugged appearance continues at the rear, where the slim LED taillights, body cladding and concave tailgate design create a broad stance that adds to the car’s muscular character – there’s no doubting the Grandland X’ is an SUV.
The Grandland X is available in a choice of 10 exterior colours and comes with an optional two-tone finish, with a contrasting black roof, to add a touch of personalisation and help you stand out from the crowd.
Take a seat in the Grandland X and the first thing you’ll notice is the raised seating position, giving you and your passengers a great view of the road ahead. You can upgrade your travelling experience even further thanks to AGR certified front seats (depending on the model), certified by the German Centre of Excellence for Ergonomics, which provide exceptional support and enhanced comfort.
The cabin is built from high quality materials, with soft-touch plastics creating a sense of quality from everything you touch, while the chrome accents found throughout the interior further add to this premium feel. The centre console is subtly angled towards the driver, improving the Grandland X’s ergonomics and allowing all the major controls to fall easily to hand – reducing the need for you to take your eyes away from the road.
Thanks to a long, 2,675mm wheelbase, the Grandland X offers plenty of room for all the family, with comfortable and spacious seating for five. The interior offers plenty of storage spaces for all of life’s essentials, while boot space ranges from 514-litres with the rear seats in place, up to a cavernous 1,652-litres with all the seats folded – You’ll never be short of space in a Grandland X.
The Grandland X will also keep you and your family comfortable, no matter what the British weather has to offer. All models come equipped with either air conditioning or climate control as standard, while the optional heated windscreen, heated front and rear seats, and heated steering wheel will keep you warm when the weather turns colder.
You can stay connected wherever your adventure takes you thanks to the latest generation IntelliLink touchscreen infotainment systems. All versions of IntelliLink feature DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity as well as support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which allow you to seamlessly integrate your smartphone with your car. In a Vauxhall first, selected models offer wireless charging for smartphones (subject to device support), meaning you’ll never run low on power.
Even parking is made simpler thanks to the Grandland X’s technology. The optional 360-degree camera systems provides you with an ‘overhead’ view of the car allowing you to see what’s going on all around when manoeuvring. You can also opt of the latest generation of Vauxhall’s Advanced Park Assist. The system can identify suitable parking spaces and then automatically park the car with the driver only having to operate the pedals – it couldn’t be easier.
The Grandland X is available with a choice of two powerful yet efficient turbo engines, one petrol and one diesel. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 130PS and boasts fuel economy of between 51.4mpg and 55.4mpg (NEDC combined cycle). The 1.6-litre diesel produces 120PS with while offering fuel economy of between 61.4mpg and 70.6mpg (NEDC combined cycle). A more powerful diesel engine will be available shortly.
Both the engines available from launch offer a choice of either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both are newly developed and have been friction-optimised to reduce fuel consumption and lower running costs. The automatic option features Quickshift technology to speed up gear changes when accelerating and offers the ability for the driver to change gears manually.
If you need to head off the beaten track, the new IntelliGrip traction control system will help you stay on course by ensuring the Grandland X finds optimal grip, no matter what the surface. To activate the system, the driver selects the preferred driving mode from a dial and IntelliGrip changes the engine, transmission, torque distribution and ESP settings to match the conditions. There are five modes to choose from:
The Grandland X is offered with several systems, using an array of cameras and sensors, to help keep you and your family safe when you’re out on the road.
The car’s front camera system monitors the traffic situation and can detect moving and parked cars, as well as pedestrians. If the distance between the car and an obstacle ahead rapidly decreases, the car will provide the driver with visual and audible alerts, and if no action is taken the brakes will be applied automatically as required.
Driver Drowsiness Alert is another feature available on the Grandland X. It monitors the car’s movements and alerts the driver if it detects if the car’s movements and/or speed suggest that the driver is fatigued and should take a break.
The innovative full LED headlights available on selected Grandland X models will ensure you see and are seen at night. This system automatically changes the lighting pattern (seven patterns) based on the car’s speed and direction, while also detecting other road users to avoid dazzling them. The camera-based, high-beam system prevents the bean from dazzling oncoming traffic, and means the driver doesn’t have to manually switch between full beam and normal headlights.
Ultrasonic sensors detect if a car is in your blind spot, illuminating an orange light in the door mirror to alert the driver if a vehicle is there to reduce the chance of collisions when changing lanes. The Grandland X will also warn the driver if the car moves out of lane without indicating.
