The All-New Renault Megane Sport Tourer combines sleek, stylish design with a hugely practical interior, offering the longest maximum load length of any car in its class. The New Megane Sport Tourer will be available soon to order at Smiths Renault, Peterborough.
The Megane Sport Tourer combines elegance with dynamism with a low, wide stance giving it a muscular yet stylish appearance. The exterior design also features a number of premium elements including chrome accents and matte-finish anodised aluminium roof bars that exude a sense of quality. The Megane Sport Tourer features the same striking lighting signature found on the Megane Hatchback with full-LED Pure Vision headlights available on selected models while at the rear Edge Light technology is used to create a 3D effect.
Inside much attention has been paid to the ergonomics of the driving position to ensure driving comfort even on the longest journey. Controls are positioned in an ‘L’ configuration to ensure everything is within easy reach of the driver. The interior features a 7-inch or 8.7-inch touchscreen depending on the model which, along with the use of chrome accents, soft-touch materials and ambient lighting, create a high-quality cabin that you will love spending time in.
The new Megane Sport Tourer continues Renault's reputation for innovative in-car technology. Featuring the critically acclaimed R-Link multi-media system, the central touch screen controls many of the cars features including satellite navigation, media playback, telephone connectivity and driving aids. From 2017 R-Link will also be available for support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to further enhance smartphone connectivity.
Multi-sense technology allows the driver to select from 5 different driving settings – neutral, sport, comfort, perso and eco – to tailor the driving experience to conditions as well as the driver’s mood, right down to the colour of the car’s ambient lighting.
The Megane Sport Tourer is also available with a range of advanced safety technologies to both protect the car’s occupants in the event of an accident while also reducing the chance of accidents happening in the first place.
The new Megane Sport Tourer is one of the most practical cars in its class. The car offers the equivalent of 580 litres of luggage space without folding the rear seats, while a moveable boot floor allows for a fully flat load area when the rear seats are folded to make loading large or bulky items simple.
When the boot floor is in its upper positon there is 50dm3 of storage space below it for keeping items out of sight or, for maximum load capacity, it can be placed in its lower position. The Megane Sport Tourer’s boot space also features several extra features to boost practicality such as storage bins on each side of the boot, hooks for hanging bags to prevent things spilling out and the boot itself can be split in two, front and back, to stop items moving around. Finally, there is even a dedicated space for the luggage cover when removed so you don’t have to leave it behind when using the car’s maximum load capacity.
The practical touches don’t stop there. Renault’s Easy Folding system allows the 60/40 split rear seats to be folded with the use of handles located in the boot area while the front passenger seat can also be folded flat to create a 2.77m long load area – the longest in the class.
If you need a car with a large carrying capacity but don’t want to sacrifice speed or driving enjoyment, then the Megane Sport Tourer GT is the car for you. Fitted with a powerful 2-litre turbo charged engine producing 205PS and 6-speed EDC dual-clutch gearbox, combined with a Renault Sport tuned chassis, this is a car you can have fun in as well as being able to deal with the things everyday life throws at it.
Styling enhancements help the GT version of the Megane Sport Tourer stand out from the crowd including a sport-style front bumper, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, mesh front grilles and sculpted rear diffuser. Inside the sporty theme continues with fabric and alcantara covered bucket seats that provide excellent lateral support, blue accents and a perforated leather sports steering wheel.
The Megane Sport Tourer GT also features Renault’s 4-control rear-wheel steering system. 4-control is designed to improve low speed manoeuvrability by turning the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front wheels at low speeds. At higher speeds the system turns the rear wheels in the same direction as those at the front to improve the car’s stability in high speed corners while maintaining a high level of driver enjoyment.
The new Megane Sport Tourer is initially available with a choice two petrol and two diesel engines. In addition to the TCe 205 petrol engine fitted to GT models, the rest of the range is available with the 130PS TCe 130 turbocharged petrol engine that is available with both a manual or EDC dual-clutch gearbox.
Buyers wanting a diesel have a choice between the dCi 110 and dCi 130 engines, the first of which is available as either a manual or EDC automatic. Renault's diesel engines provide strong, torquey performance while still returning excellent fuel consumption figures and low emissions.
In 2017 a Hybrid Assist version of the dCi 110 diesel engine will be added to the line-up. This collects energy usually wasted when the car slows or brakes are applied and reuses it under acceleration. This both boosts performance and reduces the strain on the engine to help lower fuel consumption.
