Vauxhall Frontera Named “Value Car of the Year” at 2025 News UK Motor Awards

The all-new Vauxhall Frontera has been honoured with the “Value Car of the Year” award at the 2025 News UK Motor Awards.

The event, now in its eighth year, recognises the best new vehicles across a wide spectrum, from city cars to family SUVs and luxury models. The judging panel includes leading automotive editors from News UK publications such as The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times Magazine, and LUXX Magazine.

Judges praised the Frontera for delivering outstanding value, highlighting its blend of affordability, practicality, style, and electrification. Available with either electric or hybrid powertrains, the Frontera supports Vauxhall’s mission to make electric mobility accessible to all.

Rob Gill, Motors Editor at The Sun, said:

“Vauxhall has flipped the switch with Frontera Electric. Normally the price difference between petrol and electric is around 30 per cent. Batteries aren’t cheap. But Frontera Electric is actually £2,000 cheaper than a petrol Frontera at £22,000. Finance starts from £144 a month. To us, value means offering more for your money than you’d expect, and Frontera delivers that in spades.”

Steve Catlin, Vauxhall Managing Director, added:

“The new Frontera perfectly illustrates our commitment to electrifying Britain. Frontera was the first car in the UK offered as both electric and petrol-hybrid at the same list price, and now the Frontera Electric starts at a lower price than its hybrid equivalent. With generous equipment, a spacious interior and a rugged design, it’s gratifying to see it recognised as the best value car of 2025.”

From launch, the Frontera removed the traditional premium associated with EVs by pricing the electric and hybrid models identically. Now, with the Electric Car Grant, the Frontera Electric starts from just £22,495 on the road, below the cost of its hybrid counterpart.

Vauxhall has also expanded the Frontera range with a new top-tier Ultimate trim, which includes extra features such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a heated windscreen, LED fog lights, and roof rails with a 240 kg load capacity.

As with all Vauxhall electric models, the Frontera is included in the brand’s “Electric All In” programme. Buyers receive eight years of full roadside assistance including emergency charging support, £500 credit (usable for a home charge point installation, public charging credit, or charging programme credit), plus 10,000 miles of free home charging when switching to the Intelligent Octopus GO home energy tariff.
