Vauxhall has emerged as the UK’s best-selling electric car brand across retail and Motability channels combined, securing an 8.2% market share, according to the 2024 new vehicle registration figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Driven by the continued success of the Corsa Electric and Mokka Electric, Vauxhall topped the combined B-segment electric sales charts. The Corsa Electric remained the UK’s best-selling electric supermini, with over 4,000 units sold in 2024.
Vauxhall’s total electric car sales rose to 15,862 units in 2024, up from 12,026 the previous year—an increase of 31%, boosting its share of the electric car market to 4.15% (surpassing its 4.04% share of the overall car market).
In the LCV (light commercial vehicle) segment, Vauxhall finished 2024 as the UK’s second best-selling van brand (excluding pick-ups), with sales climbing from 34,632 to 36,474 units and market share increasing from 9.93% to 10.08%. The Vauxhall Combo was the UK’s second best-selling compact van in 2024, while the Vivaro secured second place in the medium van segment.
James Taylor, Managing Director of Vauxhall, commented:
"2024 was a milestone year for Vauxhall as we fulfilled our commitment to offering a fully electric version of every car and van in our lineup. Our electric models continue to gain popularity, and Vauxhall is leading the way in electric car sales across retail and Motability channels combined. With our refreshed SUV lineup, including the New Frontera and New Grandland, we now have two models in the highly popular C-SUV segment. I’m confident that even more UK drivers will make the switch to electric with Vauxhall in 2025 and beyond."
