Hyundai Unveils IONIQ 9, Ushering in a New Era of Spacious EV Design

Hyundai has released teaser images of its highly anticipated IONIQ 9, a three-row, all-electric SUV that signifies a new chapter in the brand’s dedication to electrification.

The IONIQ 9, representing the large vehicle class in Hyundai’s IONIQ lineup, is the company’s first foray into the large SUV EV segment. Building on the success of the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, the IONIQ 9 aims to redefine the electric vehicle experience with its spacious and comfortable interior, made possible by Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

The IONIQ 9 features an ‘Aerosthetic’ design, combining aerodynamic efficiency with aesthetic appeal. Inspired by the sleek exteriors and roomy interiors of boats, the SUV boasts a single-curved roofline and an extended wheelbase, providing ample space for all passengers, including those in the third row.

Teaser sketches highlight the intricate design details of the IONIQ 9. The character lines on its sides are reminiscent of the diagonal lines found in traditional Korean Hanbok clothing. The front lamps incorporate Parametric Pixels, a signature lighting design for IONIQ models, while the multi-spoke wheels complement the vehicle’s dynamic and elegant nature.

Hyundai will release teaser content on its social media channels, leading up to the IONIQ 9’s World Premiere in November. More details about the premiere will be shared soon. The IONIQ 9 is set to redefine spaciousness and comfort in electric vehicles.

This launch follows Hyundai’s record-breaking performance last year and the production of its one-hundred millionth vehicle this year. Notably, the 100-million-and-first vehicle produced was an EV, underscoring Hyundai’s shift towards electrification. The company remains committed to its goal of selling two million EVs by 2030.
