Hyundai Earns Top Safety Recognition in 2025 IIHS Awards

Hyundai continues to lead the way in vehicle safety, with multiple models earning top honours in the latest 2025 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awards. In the updated evaluation criteria for 2025, seven Hyundai models received either a TOP SAFETY PICK+ or TOP SAFETY PICK rating — a clear testament to the brand’s commitment to driver and passenger protection.

2025 Hyundai Safety Standouts include:

  • TOP SAFETY PICK+:
    • Hyundai IONIQ 6 (Midsize Car)
    • Hyundai Palisade (Midsize SUV)
    • Hyundai Tucson (Small SUV – Built after March 2024)
  • TOP SAFETY PICK:
    • Hyundai IONIQ 5 (Midsize SUV)
    • Hyundai Santa Fe (Midsize SUV)
    • Hyundai Elantra (Small Car – Built after Dec 2024)
    • Hyundai Tucson (Small SUV – Built before March 2024)

The TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation is the highest recognition from IIHS, requiring vehicles to earn top scores in several rigorous crash tests, front crash prevention evaluations, and headlight performance across all trims. The 2025 updates placed extra emphasis on back-seat safety, and Hyundai models rose to the challenge.

“Safety is at the core of our vehicle development strategy,” said Brian Latouf, President of Hyundai Motor North America. “We’re proud to see so many of our vehicles meet the stricter 2025 standards, showing our dedication to protecting not only drivers, but everyone in the vehicle.”

Whether you’re looking for a family SUV like the SANTA FE, a sleek electric option like the IONIQ 6, or a versatile crossover like the Tucson, Hyundai continues to deliver vehicles that meet the highest safety standards — now and into the future.
