Hyundai continues its remarkable success in 2024 with two major wins at the Scottish Car of the Year (SCOTY) Awards at Edinburgh’s Dalmahoy Hotel. The IONIQ 5 N was named Performance Car of the Year, while the All-new SANTA FE secured the Large ICE Car of the Year title.
Following the IONIQ 6’s overall victory in 2023, these accolades reflect Hyundai’s exceptional quality, driving dynamics, and innovative electrified drivetrains. The IONIQ 5 N, based on the E-GMP platform, delivers up to 650 PS with its N Grin Boost feature, achieving 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 161 mph, enhanced by advanced technologies like N e-shift and N Active Sound+ for a thrilling, emotionally engaging drive.
Hailed as a “rocket ship” by judges, it seamlessly combines cutting-edge electric performance with practicality, earning additional honours like the 2024 World Performance Car title. The IONIQ 5 N embodies Hyundai’s commitment to excellence.
Hyundai's latest addition, the All-new SANTA FE, has been awarded the Large ICE Car of the Year at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards. This recognition is owed to its exceptional combination of quality, practicality, and an impressive powertrain. The SANTA FE is powered by a 1.6-litre T-GDi Smartstream engine, available in two Hybrid versions (two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive) and a four-wheel drive Plug-in Hybrid. The Hybrid variants deliver 215 PS and 367 Nm of torque, while the Plug-in Hybrid offers 253 PS and 367 Nm.
Its appeal is further enhanced by a bold, boxy design and a spacious, user-focused interior, perfect for both urban and outdoor lifestyles. The fully foldable second- and third-row seats offer class-leading space, while advanced features and high-tech solutions emphasise its versatile "nature-meets-city" charm. The SANTA FE also boasts a comprehensive suite of safety features and Hyundai Smart Sense Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
Alisdair Suttie, President of the Association of Scottish Motor Writers, commented:
"The Hyundai SANTA FE seamlessly blends luxury, practicality, and advanced technology, earning its place in the premium SUV market."
Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, added:
"Hyundai's competitiveness across all segments continues to shine, as evidenced by the recognition from the Association of Scottish Motor Writers.
