The Hyundai i30 N is Coming

The i30 N is built for car lovers and driving enthusiasts and is Hyundai’s first high performance ‘N’ vehicle. Engineers have created the i30 N to offer the highest levels on driving pleasure, both on the road and the track – the i30 N is an everyday sports car.

Power comes from a 4-cylinder 2.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged engine, delivering up to 275 PS of power and 353 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the road through a six-speed manual gearbox ensuring maximum driver engagement. This results in a 0-62 mph time of just 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, the i30 N is definitely not short on performance.

As they say, power is nothing without control and when it comes to handling, the i30 N is targeting the best in the class. Developed and tested at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the i30 N offers precision handling and superb body control without compromising safety or durability.

The suspension damping is controlled electronically, helping to improve both ride and handling as well as stability without compromising comfort when driving around town. 18-inch Michelin or 19-inch Pirelli tyres ensure maximum grip through the corners and the specially designed power steering is direct with a high precision feel, providing stability at high speeds as well as being instantly responsive through the corners.

The i30 N’s Launch Control is designed to assist the driver in getting the car off the line as quickly as possible. Normally, drivers must carefully match the engine speed and torque by the throttle pedal in order to reduce wheel spin and prevent the traction control system from reducing engine power. With the N spec car, the driver simply holds the throttle pedal down to the floor whilst the engine management system controls the engine speed and torque to keep engine in the optimum range for launch. The driver then releases the clutch pedal whilst the traction control system and limited slip differential work together to produce the maximum traction available for the best acceleration.

The i30 N adds an aggressive, sporty feel to the standard i30’s sleek and stylish design. The i30 N is 4mm lower and features a black bezel around the headlights, gloss back spoiler, twin-exhaust and red brake callipers.

Inside you will find an exclusive “N” sports steering wheel helping give you complete control and the instrument cluster has been specially designed and includes a gear shift timing indicator. The i30 N also features exclusive sports seats with extendable seat cushions to hold you in place during high speed manoeuvres. There is a choice of suede/leather or cloth interiors so you can customise the i30 N to your taste.

Driver can choose from 5 driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, N and N Custom which can be selected using the two dedicated steering wheel buttons. These modes adjust engine settings, the dampers, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Limited Slip Differential, engine sound and steering to change the character of the car to match your driving preferences.

The Hyundai i30 N comes with a 5-inch or optional 8-inch touchscreen with navigation. These systems provide access to many of the cars functions and also show information about power, torque, turbo boost as well as lap and acceleration timers.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both supported allowing drivers to integrate their smart devices with their car to control music, telephone and navigation functions from the cars touchscreen.

The Hyundai i30 N will be available at Smiths Hyundai later in 2017.
