Nissan's Groundbreaking e-POWER Achieves Milestone: 100,000 Sales in Europe

Since its introduction in September 2022, over 100,000 customers have received Nissan's groundbreaking e-POWER vehicles. In Europe, a total of 65,367 Qashqais and 34,663 X-Trails, both equipped with this powertrain, have been sold to date. In the UK exclusively, over one-fifth of these sales have taken place, with 21,026 e-POWER models being purchased by customers.

What sets e-POWER apart is its exclusive reliance on an electric motor to drive the wheels, delivering a driving experience characterised by smoothness, quietness, and ease comparable to that of a fully electric vehicle. Customer feedback on e-POWER emphasises their satisfaction with the quiet operation and user-friendly driving dynamics of the powertrain. The sophisticated and efficient petrol engine within the e-POWER system is dedicated to generating electricity, which charges the onboard battery and propels the wheels via the electric motor.

Furthermore, energy generation adjusts according to road conditions. When there's an increase in road noise caused by factors like surface conditions and vehicle speed, the engine engages to charge the e-POWER battery pack, reducing the necessity for the engine to function in quieter conditions.

David Moss, Senior Vice President, Region Research and Development, Nissan's AMIEO region, said:

"e-POWER is a key component of Nissan's electrification strategy, representing the perfect option for customers who are not quite ready to switch to a 100% electric vehicle, but want to enjoy the effortless progress that only electric motor driven wheels can provide. From the first unveiling to an incredible 100,000 e-POWER vehicles on the road, our journey continues with Nissan's e-POWER – the gateway technology to an EV drive."

Nissan's distinctive technology is expanding its reach beyond Europe, making its way onto roads in Australia and New Zealand in both vehicle models, as well as in Morocco specifically with the Qashqai.

The X-Trail is an SUV tailored for adventurous families, introducing an enhanced level of excitement through its integration of e-POWER technology and an optional twin-motor e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system.

The present Qashqai represents the third iteration of Nissan's urban crossover, unveiled in 2021. Building upon its reputation as a trailblazer in the European automotive industry, it blends striking aesthetics and a subtly elevated driving stance with agility, intuitive technology, and top-notch quality.
