Feel the Need For Speed with the All New Renault Megane R.S.

We are excited to announce the New Renault Megane R.S. which is being added to the Renault Sport range. Since the first Megane RS was launched in 2004 the model has earned itself a strong reputation in the hot hatch segment and is widely regarded as a benchmark in its class.

Extreme driving enjoyment, efficiency and agility is what the Renault Megane R.S. is built for. Drivers will enjoy more refined chassis performance enhanced by Renault’s 4CONTROL technology complete with four-wheel steering, a very first in its segment.

Power

Power is provided by a four-cylinder 1.8 litre turbocharged engine which delivers an impressive 280hp and 390Nm of torque. This power is transmitted through the choice of six-speed manual or six-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The automatic gearbox option doesn’t mean less fun, with Renault’s focus being on optimising gear shift times for greater performance and driving thrill. With maximum torque available from 2,400rpm up to 5,000rpm it is safe to say the Renault Megane R.S. is not short on performance.

Control

The Renault Megane R.S. offers a new level of driving pleasure and when it comes to handling this car exceeds expectations. The car is offered with a choice of new 18 or 19-inch wheels, improving stability and cornering performance.

Innovation is at the forefront with Renault’s 4CONTROL system, high speed cornering and tight turns are improved with more precise steering. A complete redesign to the PerfoHub independent steering axis front suspension has taken place to cater for the car’s new geometry and is a lot stiffer than previously.

The Renault Megane R.S. is focused on delivering excellent control at the highest of speeds. The limited slip differential features different lock up values to ensure enhanced traction at higher cornering speeds.

Optimise gateways with the car’s launch control, found on the efficient dual clutch model. When the car is either in Race or Sport mode, it works in conjunction with the specially adapted traction control to produce the best start in even the lowest grip situations.

The braking system found on the Megane R.S. has two new features to improve the stopping power - New 355mm front discs with brembo callipers and optional cast iron and aluminium brake discs are available.

Exterior Body

The R.S. adds an aggressive, sportier feel to the Megane styling, with the overall width of the car increasing. A specific front grille features a diamond grid pattern and a new lip spoiler has been added to enhance the cars stylish design. The car is available in a new body colour, Volcanic Orange, which joins the iconic Liquid Yellow colour.

Taken from sister Renault Clio R.S., front lights of the Megane R.S. house the vision LED system. The chequered flag lighting design is incorporated in the front bumper to deliver high performance lighting. For the first time on Megane R.S., Renault has included their trademark C-Shaped lighting signature which incorporates the cars indicators.

Interior

Inside you will find a comfortable yet sporty design with sport front seats and integrated headrests. There is a choice of two upholsteries, either carbon fibre weave or alcantara, complimenting bespoke aluminium pedals and gear lever.

A driver can choose from five different driving modes: comfort, normal, sport, race and perso which can be easily selected using the steering wheel. These modes adapt engine response, adjust the firmness of steering and gear shift speeds, to change the character of the car.

Media

Renault has fitted their high-end R-Link 2 multimedia system complete with an 8.7-inch touchscreen display. It also includes an upgraded R.S. monitor allowing drivers to monitor their performance in real time and attach a camera to analyse their rides.

Before the end of 2018, Renault sport will introduce a Trophy version of New Renault Megane R.S. which will produce a 300hp and 400Nm of torque. The trophy version will be geared to increase performance and include 19-inch wheels as standard. More information about the Trophy model will be available closer to the cars launch.
