Vauxhall Corsa Named UK's Best Selling Car Of 2021

The Vauxhall Corsa has been named the UK's best selling car in 2021, with 40,914 sold in 2021, according to figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The newest generation of Corsa was first launched at the end of 2019, and is available with petrol, diesel and fully electric powertrains.

The Corsa-e was one of the most popular small EV's in the UK last year, which accounted for 5,605 of total Corsa registrations. The sales of the Corsa-e rose by 97% last year compared to 2020.

Paul Willcox, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said:

“The Vauxhall Corsa fully deserves to be back at the top of the UK sales charts as the nation’s favourite new car. Alongside its design, innovative technology and affordable pricing, a full choice of powertrain technologies has been very popular – with customers able to choose between the fully-electric Corsa-e or our efficient petrol and diesel engines. We’ve just enhanced the range of the Corsa-e and made it even more attainable so we’re confident that Corsa will continue to prove popular with UK buyers.”

Vauxhall accounted for 5.5% of the UK new car market in 2021, selling more than 91,452 cars. Vauxhall's retail market share grew up 0.6 of a percentage point from 4.76% to 5.36%, one of the fastest rates in the industry. There have been five generations of Corsa since its UK launch in 1993, with over two million Vauxhall Corsa models being sold since. The most popular colour among Corsa models sold in 2021 was Quartz Grey, closely followed by Jade White and Diamond Black. Across Vauxhall's range of cars and LCV's, there are already five fully-electric models and following the launch of the All-new Astra, two plug-in hybrid models. By 2024, Vauxhall is committed to offer an electrified variant of every model in it's line-up, and to only sell electric models from 2028.
